Early Birds ignites the dreams of young aviators from 2nd to 6th grade. Our 12-week program meets every Saturday morning for exciting classes covering Tuskegee Airmen history, aviation careers, flight simulation, and STEM activities. We’ve impacted over 250 future pilots and counting!
The Lee A. Archer Red Tail Youth Flying Program has guided 7th to 12th graders through after-school flight training, STEM education, and leadership development for over 20 years. From classroom to cockpit, we mentor and shape future pilots and leaders.
The RedTail Flight Academy enables young people of color between the ages of 18-25 to achieve their goals of becoming professional pilots. Our scholarships take you from being a Student Pilot to a fully licensed Commercial Pilot. Graduates are placed into internships with top companies, and most receive job offers. We also offer Public Access training to anyone who wants to learn to fly, and those funds help support the program.
The RedTail Flight Academy Maintenance Scholarship provides an incredible opportunity for aspiring aviation mechanics to gain hands-on training and classroom instruction for careers in aviation maintenance. This program is a partnership with the Dutchess Community College Foundation to provide annual scholarships for Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) training leading to an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license and an associate degree. Recipients also gain access to internships, mentorship, leadership development, and career placement opportunities.
The RedTail Flight Academy Aviation Summer Camp offers students aged 8 to 18 a fast-paced introduction to aviation and aerospace careers. Led by aviation experts, the STEM-intensive camp includes classroom sessions covering aerodynamics, aviation history, airspace, navigation, and chart reading. Students will also have hands-on experiences, including time on an advanced flight simulator, tours of airport and corporate facilities, and a capstone introductory flight in a traditional single-engine aircraft.
Coming soon! We are currently developing a Mobile Outreach Program that will allow us to partner with educators in underserved communities, support STEM programs, and introduce aviation and its career prospects to youth who cannot attend our other programs
